Virgin Shores

Virgin Shores is an Interactive City Journal created by deathtopumpkins. The CJ is updated at Simtropolis semi-regularly (about once a week or two), but updates usually number 20-30 pictures in length. The CJ recently joined the Alliance of Fuel Developing and Exporting States as a founding nation.

History

The CJ was started on June 10th, 2008, with the opening post containing an SC4Terraformer overview shot of the region. Over the next couple days, updates progressed periodically, as the town grew. By update 4, oil had been discovered, and soon a refinery sprang up, exponentially increasing the town's population. Once a fanbase had been established, updates slowed down a bit, but that didn't stop people from posting, and soon whole pages were being filled with nothing but replies. Shortly after this was when the CJ first went interactive, when one commenter requested the ability to purchase a house in the ever-growing town. To cope with the volume of requests that came pouring in, psander5 was quickly hired to represent the City Planning Department. Soon after this, Patricius Maximus was recruited to run the DOT, and shortly after that a whole city council was created. This city council consisted of 7 elected officials and DTP as the mayor. Features continued to be added to the CJ over the summer, including an Atlas and a dedicated photobucket account. Since July the CJ has proceeded in much the same manner, holding another election in August. Recent weeks have, however, have seen much change. When the Alliance of Fuel Developing and Exporting States (AFDES) was established in early September, Virgin Shores was one of the first CJs to join, which benefited the state-owned Virgin Oil Company, and brought more prosperity to the town, as there are trade incentives in place between member nations. Another recent change involved the frequency of elections. The last two had been monthly, but due to DTP going back to school and thus not having as much time to work on the CJ, the frequency of elections was pushed back to two months, resulting in no September elections. The volume of updates has also slowed down considerably.

The region

The region was one of the first ones DTP created with the terraformer, and has much flat land, ideal for building a city on. The only area currently explored in the CJ is the far southeastern corner, to the first river north, and to the river bend to the west. Virginites (the citizens of Virgin Shores) are gradually exploring their region however, so that won't stay that way for long.

The entire developed portion of the region is contained within a 5x4 kilometer area, and consists of the incorporated town of Oilville in the north, and the collection of unincorporated towns that make up Founders County to the south.
