The Network Widening Mod (NWM) is a future transit mod being produced by the NAM Team, consisting of a series of Override Networks, which are wider variants of the existing in-game networks, extending the RHW concept to Car-Based Surface Networks.
The project was initially conceived in December 2006 by jplumbley, Tarkus, burgsabre87 and beskhu3epnm, and they were joined by Shadow Assassin in June 2008. As of this writing, there are no public releases of the NWM, and, as per standard NAM Team policy, there is no anticipated release date for Version 1.

Basic Network Characteristics
The NWM networks are all Override Networks, using Starter Piece Technology and extending on the Road and One-Way Road networks, both Surface-type Networks. They do allow for direct access to RCI Zones. In order to function properly, the NWM, upon its release, will require the use of the A and B Traffic Simulators introduced in the April 2008 release of the NAM.
Turning Lane Avenues
The Turning Lane Avenues (TLAs) are Override Networks which, despite their name, are Road-based. They are such named since they resemble Avenues, but have functioning center turn lanes down the middle with crossover paths, allowing for car traffic to cross the median and directly access RCI Zones without adding cross intersections.
TLA-3
The TLA-3 is a 1-tile network, which consists of 3 total lanes, 2 of which are for through travel, with the center lane allowing turning motions. It has the same capacity as a Road, and thus, is more or less functional eyecandy.
TLA-5
The TLA-5 is a 2-tile network, which resembles the standard 4-lane Avenue network, but with a 5th center turn lane, allowing cars to access zones 1 tile away. It has 2 times the capacity of a Road, and, with the same capacity as an Avenue with the A and B NAM Traffic Simulators.
TLA-7
The TLA-7 is a 3-tile network with 7 lanes, allowing for access to zones 2 tiles away. It has 3 times the capacity of a Road, and 1.5 times the capacity of the TLA-5.
AVE-2 and AVE-6
There are two other NWM networks which contain a median divider like the standard Avenues, the AVE-2 and AVE-6. They resemble the TLA-3 and TLA-7 but without the center turn lane. They are also, despite the name, Road-based.
Medianless Avenues: MAVE-4
The Medianless Avenues (MAVEs) are also Avenue-style Road-based Override Networks. The only MAVE currently in development is the MAVE-4, which has the same capacity as a TLA-5 and a Standard Avenue.
Asymmetrical Road
The Asymmetrical Road (ARD-3) is a 3-lane, 1-tile network, consisting of 2 lanes in one direction, and a single lane on the opposite side, resembling the RHW-3. It has the same capacity as a Road, and can be considered functional eyecandy.
Wider One-Way Roads
In addition to the Avenue-style extensions of the Road network, the NWM project also will include in some future release a series of Wider One-Way Roads. Prototypes have been made for both a 1-tile OWR-3 and a 2-tile OWR-5.
