The Greater Terran Region (GTR) is a large region that is mostly packed with skyscrapers, supported by an amazing transportation system. The city showcase a year old and has received four digit replies and five digit views, making it one of the fastest growing City Showcases of 2008.
Features
Other than the skyline, the Greater Terran Region is most famous for its transportation network. It includes, but is not limited to, huge highway networks, bullet trains, complex subway systems, rail and bus routes. As with many modern major cities, the GTR boasts special HOV lanes for restricted use, collector/express highway systems, GLR/GLR-in-avenue, massive mass-transit stations, and airports.
Haljackey's planning style is quite simple, but has complex results. A very leaninent mayor, he zones high-density 100% of the time. This allows the sims decide what they want to put in the zones, anything from a shack to a towering skyscraper.
Haljackey also presents his images in the GTR in full resolution (most 1920x1200), and can be accessed when the smaller image on-site is clicked on. The GTR is also well known for its videos on Youtube.
History
The city showcase began on December 18th, 2007 on Simtropolis and was very popular on the site as a new City Journal. Haljackey decided to showcase the GTR to the audience at SC4 Devotion, first updating on December 28th, 2007. On SC4D, the new Mayor's Diary was not very popular because all the updates were mere copy-and pastes from older updates at Simtropolis, and Haljackey decided to cancel updates at SC4D. The MD quickly arrived in the inactive MD section and stayed there for some time.
- It wasn't until after the Simtropolis Site Hack that the MD returned to active status. Haljackey lost a lot of content and decided that continuing it at SC4D would be the best way to counter another site hack since the content could be located here.
- The GTR returned to SC4D on May 27th, 2008 with a new business plan: post new updates instead of old ones. The plan worked and the GTR became a hit with the SC4D community and is still to this day. It is now a Best-Seller and is commonly found on the week's/month's top 5 growth categories on The SC4Devotion Mayor Diary Statistics.
On November 22nd, 2008, Haljackey updated the GTR for the 100th time. The 100th update special contains just about everything one can put into a City Showcase, and shows how the region has grown since update 1. Update 100 is Haljackey's largest to this day.
