The Seaport is a Transport building that provides Freight Shipping services, designed to remove Industrial Freight traffic from your city.
Ports are one of the three possible destinations for Freight Trucks:
- Seaport for export.
- A Neighbor Connection for export, which might be road, avenue, highway, RealHighway or rail Neighbor Connections.
- Freight Train Station for transshipment from road to rail.
Beta
In beta, it appears that the Seaport was to be the final stage in an upgradeable chain of buildings, begun by the Port and preceded by the Major Port.
