- 2nd: The wiki is plagued by an edit war, and is temporarily suspended. It was re-opened on January 4th.
- 14th: 24th NAM release, coinciding with the release of RHW Version 3.0 and a fix to the HSRP mod, to mark the 6th anniversary of the release of SC4.

- 1st: The 2008 Trixie Award Winners are announced at Simtropolis.

- 7th: 25th NAM release, coinciding with the release of RAM Single Track Rail, the Rural Roads Plugin and RHW Version 3.2.

- 21st: 26th NAM release, marks the introduction of the Canal Addon Mod. Reintroduction of "update" files.

- 18th: 27th NAM release, primarily a bugfixing release.

- EBLT Team is founded.

- 9th: ITC Team is moved from Other Team to Certified Team on SC4D.
- 20th: EBLT Team receives team board at SC4D.

- 6th: SC4PIM, also known as PIM-X or X-Tool, is finally released to the LEX.
- 9th: Team Downunder is founded by Joelyboy911, adroman and dobdriver.

- 25th: the 2009 Trixies have been awarded at Simtropolis.
