A City Showcase, (also known as a City Journal, or CJ and Mayor's Diary, or MD) is a visual documentation of SimCty4 players' endeavours in the game. While an City Showcase can take any conceivable form--a journal of regular updates, a story with a carefully constructed plot, "eyecandy" only--the foundation is a showcase of the player's game through various media, most commonly images, but more increasingly, animations and videos.

Major City Showcase Sites
SimCity4 Devotion
At SC4Devotion, a City Showcase is referred to as a Mayor's Diary. Mayors Diaries are separated and classified in a hierarchy based on post/view count:
- Recently Published. MDs with 0-99 replies and 0-999 page views. The Recently published MDs can be found here.
- Best Sellers. MDs with more than 100-499 replies and 1000-4999 page views. The Best Sellers MDs can be found here.
- Classics. MDs with more than 500 replies and 5000 page views. The Classics MDs can be found here.
There are also auxiliary sections, reserved for specific instances:
- TheSC4Devotion Mayors' Diary Hall of Fame. This section is home to those MDs that have been chosen by the SC4D community as being of such exemplary quality as to be included in the Hall of Fame. Those MDs in the Hall of Fame are kept there permanently. The SC4 Devotion MD hall of fame MDs be found here.
- Of Special Interest This Month (OSITM). This section is home to those MDs that have be chosen by the SC4D Staff for a month-long spotlight. MDs that are chosen for OSITM are housed in this OSITM thread for a period of one month, then rotate back to the regular forums, based on their post count. The Of Special Interest This Month MDs can be found here (changed every month).
- Inactive MDs. MDs that have been not been posted in by the author for a period of 45 days in the active forums are deactivated and moved here. Authors may request to have their MDs reactivated, based on moderator approval. The Of Special Interest this Month MDs can be found here (changed every month.)
- MD Archives. MDs that have been in the "Inactive MDs" section for a period of three month without reactivation are moved here. Once an MD is moved here, it is locked and generally cannot be reactivated.
- The SC4Devotion Mayor Diary Statistics Is a statistical analysis of views/post count of all the active Mayors Diaries on SimCity4 Devotion, and is updated frequently by Thundercrack83. You can find the SC4Devotion Mayor Diary Statistics here.
SimForum
At SimForum, a City Showcase is referred to as a Stadtportrait (City Portraits) or Regionportraits, and placed in a subforum with the Wettbewerbe (Competitions).
Simtropolis
At Simtropolis, a City Showcase is referred to as a City Journal. All City Journals are all housed in a single board, entitled "City Journals."

- The Official City Journal Critics Thread is a thread were a team of designated City Journal reviewers post reviews about various City Journals. A City Journal can be reviewed if the author sends a private message to a reviewer, or has been nominated by another member to be reviewed and approved by the author. At ToutSimCity, the City Showcases are placed in a forum called "Vos Villes" (Your Cities).
